Tony Jones

Renown for controlling the result of his question times with his "moving on because I said so", this bloke has to go.
Someone said yesterday a prominent ABC host was retiring .
I thought it might be Jones as he --is so good at sending his audience to sleep during his increasingly vain attempts to give every reactionary a voice and sic the lions onto the Christians in his Monday night games program .
Much more subtle, like the ABC , at promoting cancel culture than most of the complicit old punch drunk audience would realize,

We are helping you by taking more off you

Energywatch .com
The bureaubrats actually gave away money for this service . Maybe the suffix .com should have to demonstrate just HOW such services are funded.
No advertising campaign of recent times seems more hypocritical that the recent series of energy watch ads ( Modelled we presume on those effective but original ads by RACV).
Our polys seem to think they are doing the right thing by giving us advice,.....

But what's the point - the Government are deliberately putting up resource prices and hoping we are not smart enough to see that -
-any differences like those between mobile phones are probably largely illusory .

The new millennium will clearly be known as the time when the wannabes most confused the role of government with the role of business - and got away with it - for a while

Wong again

Few politicians have been as stupid as to just tell us "to think". It may make some in the audience think they are stupid, but for most of us, the long term comeback is to wonder about the authors real state of mind. Content is needed to engender competence and cringe type copouts convince noone.
Expensive ads that tell us nothing, but that we are stupid and need to think .
Is this what Rudd means by his education revolution? Don't hold your breath baby!
We here at Adventure land try to learn to love your new ideas: But How would we ever go anywhere if you can't find some NEW imperatives for us to grow into.

Telling the public "to think" ---thats definitely a new one. Wongs advisors deserve a prize at least for innovation in ideas, but nothing else . How to spend money - insulting our intelligence.
Who said Australians have moved beyond the cringe culture.

Rudd, as leader of the revolving revolution , will have to act to limit the damage of all this careless taxing and taxing talk (CTS) . The greatest evil is being done in the name of the best intention .Labor needs to exorcise vigilance;particularly with its own demons .
No government, however worthy the cause, can afford to talk of raising taxes for a cause they identify, when they can't even identify the means to effect that cause.

The greens like the idea of a tax because they can understand it ;one of the few things they can .
The fact that any tax and govt meddling in economics might create huge distortions and be misused hasn't cut in yet; its not their money they are playing with .
For modern government church -it seems its purpose is to bless the faithful . Trouble is with tax returns is that its so hard to identify who should be blessed. "Wait your turn" didn't quite work to keep the audinnce at bay last week , when the green paper is clearly paying the polluters . Are there no sinners left in this mega church ?
Naturally such expensive stupidity met no initial resistance when offered to the big ideas men .
Such ideas as more tax (and more money for us ) are just so appealling simple.

This years Hare Awards postponed

Hares VS Tortoises

While nothing has done more to keep the service growing over the last 30 years than the KIT KAT agreement , we think its time to go quiet on that agreement and the HARE awards . The government are getting nervous about soemthing that's dear to both our hearts - speed and efficiency, or at least the impression of it .

Mr Howard ,this week, expressed a very sound concern that many skilled people are leaving the workforce at too early an early age. While he doesn't as yet realise why , we at the department of departments are concerned he might realise why .

You see , they have wanted us to cultivate hares instead of tortoises for decades now and we have been pretty good at it . Government on both sides obviously prefer the sweet monoculture of speed to the substantial substance of diversity in staff . You see any impresion of slowness in our institutions reflects on them .

We have done well and only done what they asked us to do . We have in recent years become so efficient and move so fast that we have noone else but hares on our staff. They are lean, mean . Most parliamantarians of recent times were happy with the monolith of the single bagging change loving runners we were creating - esp in management . They absolutely thrive there, even if they don't stay very long at any one task . High flyers we call them . They not only talk the talk they talk and talk. So thin infact are they that most tortoises could see through them when it comes to the real race of governmment. Tortoise leave in frustration , not with the jobs they are often very good at, but ALL the harey nonsense fast moving focus fanatics force on them.

Still --parliament loves the idea of "lean "and will keep paying the big dollar for the fast moving sorts. Howard and his parties patronage of the HARE wards has made much growth in the public service possible .
Kit Kat has enabled the tasks of governanece TO seem bigger and bigger . The current high attrition rate amongst those who do it the old way is of course predictable.

Cultural cringe agents of change for changes sake do not need reminders about constancy and consistency and competence - the sort of skills that are developed over the years by tortoises . Noone in the speed brigade is worried about those who lose their jobs because they just want to do the job they were trained for . You don't have to be Einstein to realise they are seen as Dinasaurs in a kit kat environment - they take a while to warm up , they resist change . Best we keep getting rid of them !
Best of all, they all the tortoises seem to be going agaianst the stream when election ime is focused on some new method or madness in the marginal arguments .

They may happen to be some of the most effective in the long term , but they don't promote growth and grand impressions of efficiency like having a lot of fast moving hares around . Now , because they have been leaving the workforce in droves , you don't hear much from them and we the public service are the more happy for it ! You don't need an another point of view to slow you down, do you!????

All Give yourselves a clap

The major party polys of Australia. You've managed to convince the public they are getting better service by having more accountants. The Myopic madness of mere bookeeping is CLEARLY going to generate much long term pain , but meantime there is a short trem gain to be had - after its an economic priniple to get what you can while you can . the market would approve unresrevedly. We disapprove absolutley - goverenmnets are not meant to be clones of business but increasinlgt they sircum to the simple hgetoric , esp when the court itslef has becoe a bunch of sycophants and cause makers and their consultants.
Moreover It gives polys a sense of control to cut something just as surely as does a sense of startiing something . But accountatnts don't start anything so it court it may e up tothe polys -Now that would be worse and it is worse ( assummng the court is dominated mby accountants and advisers of ilk to one or tother) so what ever happened to indpenedant advcice _ eh Thats the point . we write on blogs like this and we're right because w do our homework and we get cut relling the truth about minesireatiland cabinet carelseslness. ther desire to get what they want , start something THE^Y think importat as its not something we want ministers to do . since when has it ben the job of ministers to have ideas - thats our idea . The STG is effective enough superfivailly to men brack fallows kennet doiwn the same path where privatisation leads to abdication- not bad when the court still gets paid - infact as the budget sto contractorsgrows so does the the pay of thsoe who knows - the bookeepers .Don't knocjk em what they know is important. not nearly as importnat aswhere thehsip is going my friends and thats twheere the vic labor party willlend .
The balance between figurers and the far sighted has been shifted well and truly towards the former. This weeks empire award goes to
who stated on behalf of the people " why would the no longer accounatable suddenly turn around and become accountable ? '

Parroting On

TO HON IAN CAMPBELL for trumping up the parrot this week . The Federal Minister for the Environment should resign for making a joke out of those scientists and practical people who work hard to influence economic decisions in a responsible ecologically sound way . Best all ministers look more closely at what is really happening here !
